Lent 2026 Daily Reflections – A continuation in Mark

Starting Ash Wednesday 2026

Dear Friends,

Read Mark, learn and inwardly digest

We started reflecting on Mark’s Gospel in our Advent reflections. Even over forty days of Lent we’ll not quite cover enough ground in this “short” Gospel to reach the end. I will deviate from the flow to pick certain passages when we arrive at Holy Week.

The Good News is presented in our Gospels as the whole Gospel, not just Jesus’ announcements, but all that he did and all that he suffered. So we continue to discover the full meaning of the “good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God”.

Bible versions

The Bible translation I am using for the main text each day is the Berean Standard Bible. Most modern translations retain a copyright, and use is restricted. I may have been liberal in interpreting fair usage in the past. The Berean Standard Bible is completely copyright free. It takes its name from the people Paul encountered on one of his missionary journeys.

Inline references

In the reflections you may find some words underlined (as in the paragraph above). If you click/tap on those words they will take you to a supporting online Bible reference (generally biblegateway.com), which I recommend.

With Blessings,

Paul
